Fantastic Results at the Newark Gold Challenge Row

Gold Challenge events are being set up throughout the country as part of the Olympic Legacy commitment to increase participation in sport. Find out how we got on when the OAR team challenged their local school to row a marathon.

One of the broader aims of the Olympic Atlantic Row is to reach out to young people and highlight that with the right mindset and preparation, anything is achievable; whether that be staying out of trouble, doing well at school, finding a job, rowing a marathon or even rowing across the North Atlantic Ocean.

Participants in the Gold Challenge Row

On October 15th 2011, the Olympic Atlantic Row team hosted a Gold Challenge Row in Newark Market Square, Nottinghamshire. The sun was shining as 14 teams of all ages hit the indoor rowing machines, each covering the marathon distance of 42km. We are pleased to announce a number of British Records were set at this event.

Official results coming soon.

With special thanks to Newark and Sherwood District Council, Sarah Sturgeon and the Magnus School, Coach Coe and all the teams that took part.
