OAR Legacy

Get Involved

The Rowing Foundation

Working in conjunction with British Rowing and The Rowing Foundation, the OAR Project is raising money to fund a fleet of rowing boats allowing young people who wouldn’t normally be able, to get out on the water and go rowing.

It’s the year of the Olympics and a time for everyone to get involved in the Great British spirit. By providing access to boats designed to get beginners started on the water and enjoying the sport, not necessarily in a competitive environment, Andrew and Roz would like to see the next generation of adventurers develop the ability to create a dream, and the self-belief that with preparation, hard work and determination, anything is possible. In order to do this, we need your help and there are two ways to donate:

1. Go to www.justgiving.com/OARProject and follow the instructions to make a donation. You can leave your own message for the crew and if you’re a UK taxpayer, The Rowing Foundation will be able to claim back GiftAid, and boost your support by 25%. You can donate by credit card in Sterling, so even if you don’t live in the UK, you can still join in!

2. Donate by text – if you’re in the UK, just send a text message with the code OARP99 and the amount you’d like to donate (£x) to 70070. If you’re a UK taxpayer, just follow the simple instructions on the text you’ll receive in order for The Rowing Foundation to be able to claim back GiftAid and boost your support by 25%.

If you are in a position to donate a larger amount or would like to fund a specific boat yourself, there is the opportunity to name it and attend the handover ceremony. Please contact rachel@oar2012.com for more details.

The OAR Legacy Fund will be available for all UK rowing clubs, by application to the Rowing Foundation. Clubs will need to raise 50% of the cost of each boat themselves.  Find out more about the OAR Legacy Fleet and how to apply at www.therowingfoundation.org.uk.
